Reproductive Endocrine Disorders

Reproductive Endocrine Disorders

by Michael Lazarus, MD

Reproductive endocrine disorders encompass all illnesses affecting the proper functioning of the gonads. The hormonal products of the ovaries and testicles are key determinants of the capability of humans to reproduce, as well as important factors in day-to-day functioning. Testosterone, for example, is a major factor in muscle hypertrophy and adaptation.

In this course, the student will be given a walkthrough of the most common reproductive endocrine disorders seen in clinical practice, including hypogonadism, menstrual cycle disturbances, and infertility.

For optimal comprehension, the student is required to have preliminary knowledge of the histology, physiology, and pathology of the gonads.
