Histology: Human Organ Systems

Histology: Human Organ Systems

by Geoffrey Meyer, PhD

Histology is the branch of biology that focuses on the study of living tissues. In medicine, histology is narrowed down to the study of human tissues in their normal state. Tissues are also studied in the broader context of their organ systems.

In this course, the student will be introduced to the types of tissues that make up the main organ systems in the human body. As the course progresses, the student will get a better grasp on the concept of cell specialization.

For optimal comprehension, the student will be required to have preliminary knowledge of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry. The parallel study of relevant physiology topics is highly encouraged.
