Autoimmune connective tissue disorders constitute a heterogenous group of diseases that affect connective tissues in various organs because of poorly controlled autoimmune responses, complement activation, interferon dysregulation, and associated inflammation. These diseases range on a spectrum from mild to very severe, and they often involve extensive courses of immunosuppressive medications to treat. This course covers some of the more common connective tissue diseases, along with the basic rheumatologic evaluations for any patient suspected of having a connective tissue disease.
