The lectures are not bad, they have the material, tbey are very well spoken and easy to undersgand. I find some quizz questions to not be relevant, i believe i won't be aske dthese questions on exam. And sometime the material itself feels dry. I am more of a doers, so by solving more complicated questions with the help of a professor would my learning experience much better. But over all not a bad course.

I have really learned. Before, I was wondering why study, or cram all those pathways and enzymes. How Professor Kevin Ahern explains and bring out concepts, Oh my God so great. He was born a teacher and just polished by learning! He never leaves behind any one, even the slow learners can pick, because once one understands the basic, the necessary complex facts can be understood quite faster! I am now thinking of mastering in Biochemistry, besides my goal of Internal medicine. To be the best Physician, Biochemistry I have understood is one of the vital tools! In my Nursing practice, we lost a 10 yr old male with Liver Cirrhosis from a liver disease, which was diagnosed in early age. Now, I am thinking of a Deficiency of the Transaldolase enzyme!! Ahh save for my little knowledge! Kind regards!

Yes, hormones and their transduction signals are important like a cardiac conduction system starting form the Sino-atrial node (SA) finishing in the Purkinjie fibres . I mean Hormones and signal transduction are really well explained by a doctor doctor Kevin Ahern . He has been presenting the most complicated part of the medicine course so well. In terms of pregnant patient for example who does need an extra attention and management as they go though various hormonal changes while caring out pregnancy and delivery tasks. I cant thank enough for his contribution . I much appreciated.

Only wish the section would have also included videos or as link to videos posted elsewhere to Vitamin C, B1,B2,B6 and the rest of the water soluble Vittamins.

I honestly had a lot of fun listening to Professor Ahern. You can tell he is really passionate about Biochem. I learned a lot. Great course if you're interested in understanding aspects of the metabolic pathways conceptually while appreciating the details/context that enrich your understanding of them and how they are interrelated.

Dr. Ahern pointed out very interesting aspects like heat generation/high energy of PEP and the 2,3-BPG production. Maybe I wasn't paying attention the first time I learned about glycolysis, but this extra integrative information it makes this step easier to remember. Actually, in generally, these human focused biochemistry lectures, are easier to digest, since when I learned it originally, it was mixed with plant and microbial biochem.

It was much needed review for me in general. Thank you.

And I also like due to the fact that this video is clearly a high-yield resource which is very helpful for my upcoming medical exam. However, I believe that this could have been better had the previous cycles preceding the formation of OMP explained as well in order for us the students to be able to get the essence of the information better. It almost always fails to explain 'why'. These lists are available in any textbook. I was looking for an explanation to understand it. Also, visually it is looking at a table for 5 minutes, pictures could have explained better.

Before Lecturio I struggled with comprehending the mechanism of proteases and enzyme kinetics. Dr. Ahern brilliantly & easily explained these concepts in less than 5 minutes. I am currently in a graduate program for Medical Sciences, we have cumulative exams every quarter & I was just memorizing the info but now I finally understand. I work in a large public hospital biochemistry routine department, when I studied this subject there where no computers, only text books. So this is a refresher and update of the subject. I like Dr. Ahern's lectures, I think he is the best in this program. He's very straight forward, precise, concise and connects different points related to what he's talking. After seen these videos I went ahead and did a q-bank of a different program and nailed the ones related to this thanks to his lecture. Some people need to keep in mind that these lectures are not going to cover every single detail, but unlike lectures from others study courses, they do cover more than the basics. For broader information with specific details you definitely need to read textbooks (e.g. Guyton, Robbins, Harrison's) and " google" it up.

The DNA Repair lecture was not very clear at all.

It is a great parsimonious source for understanding the mechanism in which amino acids build into protein and how amino acids are broken down through metabolism into various molecules inside the body. The lecture also provides the structural frame understand the basics of amino acid regulation through metabolism.

The explanation is cristal clear with examples and illustrations. Good picture of ARN structure.

All the explanation are precise to the point...and covers all the important concepts

Dr. Ahern creates a great foundation by breaking down concepts and building on them throughout the lectures.

The professor is excellent. I like how he explains things. Some of the professors move their arms around a lot which can be distracting or spend the whole time looking down at the computer. With others it feels like all the do is read from the slides. However the biochem lectures are very well done and by far my favourites so far.

Vitamin section is fine, concerned vitamins explained clearly and easily However, some water soluble vitamins are considered missing (eg. thiamine, riboflavin, biotin, vitamin C ) although they might be encountered in some other subjects; such as nutrition. Additionally, minerals are not touched in these lecture series at all Overall, it is a very good course for the material targeted, but needs to fill the gap of missing items

Your lectures were phenomenal, but for several of the lectures the slides did not correspond with your lecture (they were of totally different topics) or they changed midway into into unrelated biochemistry topics. It may be best to review them and adjust the errors. However, your presentation was so so good that I was easily able to follow your lectures with the downloaded lecture slides.

I liked the lecture and the diagrams, I can put 5 stars yet because I am unsure how relevant everything is. Pretty basic biochem, but it was a good refresher. The diagrams are helpful.

I cannot believe I am just now finding this resource during my dedicated Step 1 period. However, I am so glad that I found it now, right at the beginning of Step prep, rather than later. I plan to use this as one of my main resources for the remainder of time up until my exam. I realized while reading First Aid that, although I had known the subjects very well at one point, that my foundation was not as solid as it once was. This is perfect for reviewing and providing the big picture for everything. It's also an amazing resource for providing the "why" and "how" behind all the small factoids written in First Aid which is just what I need. It's so much easier to retain the information when you actually understand what is going on rather than memorizing a 650+ page book of bullet point lists/facts. This is great. I was a huge fan of Boards and Beyond, but I have since ditched that resource and am fully focusing on this one since this seems a lot more comprehensive and better taught (though Dr. Ryan has also done an amazing job too). Thank you guys so much for coming out with such a well thought out and developed and thorough resource. This is going to make board prep so much smoother. If I end up scoring highly on Step 1, I will make sure to write a review on Reddit, SDN, etc raving about Lecturio.

The material covered a wide variety and having a non-science background it is clear and easy to understand.

This guy just knows his stuff, on point even with the speed of his speech he has mastered his slides. I almost got scared with the previous lecture in genetics but he managed to bring me back home. Very knowledgeable keep up the good work and add more clinical correlations.

Its really interesting subject made easy by an interesting professor. I'm not sure if that level of details are needed for the USMLE exam as I'm using the USMLE curriculum, if its not needed thats fine it will be for my future knowledge hopefully if i get to keep in my head.

How I wish I had this when I first started medical school. The explanations were clear and concise. The use of simple words enable me to understand it well as well as the option to pause at anytime allows further internalization of the facts.

You can memorize or you can understand. Concepts are yours forever. Memorized lists of facts are gone the very next time you need to cram for another test.

Kevin must be the best teacher ever. He explains with a certainty only a person with many years of lecturing can. Simple, easy and fast, making complicated matters seem easy to learn. Compared to the slides i have in med. school, the content is the same. But this guy also gives the explaination in the same amount of time! His body language is also nice to watch as they are firm and open, kind of directing your thoughts, like a maestro. You just have to remember and do some repetition of EVERY detail he mentiones, it will for sure be on the exam. I also use his lectures to simplify my understandings from pdf files from school and heavy textbooks. I will recommend everyone to use this!! I found the lectures to be very informative and composed of high-yield information for a relatively quick review of the subject. The only reason I give 4* is because of the few technical problems with the course; but, in regard to the course material, Lecturio provides a wonderful review of Biochemistry with Dr. Ahern.

Thanks Dr. Kevin Ahern. Believe me when I say that I have a teacher who just read his lectures. I think that Biochemistry is a hard subject and difficult to understand because most of the things are just known perfectly reactions and structures. But your lectures have something else. I take some notes and it's easier for me to study the subject. Before I started with Lecturio most of my subjects I didn't know how to study. There is only one thing that I would like to suggest. I would like to know some facilities that teachers and students use for know the structures.

the plot charts are really confusing. takes a few replays to grasp a little.

Lecturer seems to know the material and is able to convey in a manner that is engaging

These lectures are made simple for someone like me who is very vulnerable to biochemistry.

I was impressed by the knowledge of the professor. However, the very short length of each lecture was disturbing and distracting.

A ERY INTERESTING COURSE ,BUT REQIURES A LLOT OF STUDY TIME TO UNDERSTAND THE AMINO ACID CHEMISTRY. TO BE HONEST, I AM A RETIRED 85 YR OLD PHARMACIST TREYING TOEEP UP.

I really like the pace and clarity of this lecturer in how he presents the material. It would be nice to have animated pictures in signaling and transport. I also wish there were sections covering enzymatic catalysis & kinetics. Over all, very good! Thank you for making these

With this introductory course, you will be exposed to the basic aspects of Biochemistry. Professor Ahern emphasizes that an in-depth knowledge of basic biochemistry will aid you tremendously in understanding life processes on a macroscopic level. This one course alone was well worth the one month payment of 24$. Every other course on top of that was an attractive but inessential addition..."icing on the cake"!

Excellent course! Whether you want to review biochemistry for a Board/National exam, or you are looking for help with a Biochemistry course. Professor Ahern details the fundamental aspects of biochemistry in a way that will make the importance of the many unseen molecules and processes stand out in all of their relevant glory!

The professor has a very clear explanation and teaches in a really dynamic way. The only negative thing about the course is that it's missing some essential biochemistry topics for graduation level like the citric acid cycle

It's the best. I really love how the doctor explains the concepts with simplicity. Biochemistry became much easier to understand. If it included clinical cases it would have been better.

Professor Ahern is truly excellent! Amazing choice. He clearly explains concepts and shows sincere enthusiasm for the topics. You need to bring him back for lectures on amino acids and the urea cycle as well as the electron transport chain.

Starting Biochemistry in the Fall and a little nervous..so I decided to brush up with self-paced lectures on Lecturio. Prof Ahern is amazing! His lectures make it easy to remember and the quizzes in each module force me to look up answers. So this is fantastic for those whose like to teach themselves. I also downloaded Biochemistry free and Easy and it complements the course nicely.

This is an amazing course! Prof Kevin has made every single details simple and clear. His deep knowledge and understanding of this subject is well reflected in his teaching style. This course is well done. It's thorough. I'm reviewing things I've learned, and also moving on to more advanced material very soon. I wish I would have had this during undergrad.

Lectures themselves are very good and very comprehensive and detailed. It would be useful to know how much of the specifics of biochemistry are likely to be examined in board exams...I was under the impression board exams are leaning towards understanding concepts rather than specifics such as the mathematics/calculation of enzymes activity.
