Legal Note: The only legal binding language of this Privacy Policy is German and even though there may be translations of this Privacy Policy into languages other than German, the German version shall be the definitive and binding version and German shall be the only language used in the interpretation of this Privacy Policy.


Your trust and the protection of personal data are very important to Lecturio. Therefore, with this Data Privacy Statement, we intend to tell you about what information we record and how we use this data. With the storage, transfer and processing of your personal data we want to offer you a user-friendly, customer-oriented and safe service.

We use the data solely for the purpose of rendering our services (e.g. fulfilling and processing your order). We do not sell your details to third parties or pass them on for other commercial gain unless it is necessary for the fulfillment of your contractual arrangements or required by law.

When registering for the newsletter, your e-mail address will be used for our advertising purposes until you unsubscribe. Cancellation is possible at any time.

Personal Data

Depending on the extent to which you use our services, different types of data are collected, stored, processed and used in connection with your user account.

Data Provided by the User

This data is provided by you in connection with the use of our services, like subscribing to our newsletter or opening a user account. We only store the data that you have actively provided us with. This usually includes e-mail address, password, name, title as well as other information (e.g. age, gender, final degree etc.) that you provide when opening a user account. Should you have provided a university email address, as a second e-mail address, it will solely be used to determine your affiliation to a certain university or educational institution.

If you use fee-based services at Lecturio, you have to provide additional information during the order process like bank, credit card or other data required to handle your payment,  your address as well as -if needed- further information. Of course we treat all the data provided by you based on the statutory provisions within the framework of the cooperation agreed. Payment data is, if necessary, forwarded to third parties to the extent permitted by law in order to process the payments. Credit card data is not stored by Lecturio.

As an e-author, you have the option to provide videos, screencasts, documents and similar educational content that is stored, processed and used by us. As a registered user you can convey your own comments, revision notes, tags, evaluations and other similar information while using our services, which are partly visible for other users as well. With contributions visible for other users, we reserve the right to store, process and use these contributions in an anonymised way, even after cancellation of the membership, as long as you consent. We use the third party providers Braintree, Inc. ( and Stripe, Inc. in order to process your payments. The personal data which you provide and is relevant to the payment processing is subject to the security and privacy policies of Braintree and Stripe. Learn Progress Control

To provide optimal learning support Lecturio collects data about your user behaviour. We will not forward any data on your learning progress to third parties.

Log Files of the Servers

While visiting our website, certain data delivered by your web browser is automatically collected by our servers. The log files created through this data comprise information like your IP address, the URL and landing page, the time, type and quantity of requests, transferred amount of data, date, time and duration of single accesses, your browser type as well as further similar information, if necessary. The collected information stored in the log files is only used for anonymous analysis and statistical evaluation (e.g. analysis of user behavior) as well as improvements of our services. A connection with the user name or e-mail does not occur.


Lecturio is using so-called cookies on its website. These are small chunks of text information, stored on your computer. Cookies enable a quicker navigation on our website, help to adjust the platform to your interests and needs, and prevent the abuse of our services.

As soon as you connect to our website, our server can identify your computer with the help of the stored cookies, thereby enabling you e.g. to stay logged in on our website. Cookies do not contain any personal data, instead anonymous “session IDs” are used. Cookies do not affect the functionality of your computer and the information linked to the cookies is not forwarded to any third parties.

Web Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “Cookies” (text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of the use of the website). The information generated by the cookies about your use of our website (including your IP address) is transferred to a server of Google and stored in the USA. Google will use this information to evaluate your utilisation of our website, to create a report about the website activities for the website owners, and to deliver further services that are linked to the utilisation of the website and internet. Google will eventually pass this information on to third parties, as long as this is regulated by law or as long as third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Google will definitely not link your IP address with other data from Google Inc. You can avoid the installation of cookies through a specific setting in your browser software; though we point out that you might not be able to use all functions of this website to full extent. Facebook Plugins

On these websites, plugins of the social network which is operated by the Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”), are used.

If you access one of our sites with such a plugin, a connection to the Facebook server will be established and the plugin will be shown in your browser. This forwards websites you have visited to the Facebook server. If you are logged in as a member of Facebook at the same time, Facebook will link this information to your personal Facebook user account. When using the plugin functions (e.g. clicking on the "like" button, making a comment), this information is also linked to your Facebook account.
