Population Genetics

Population Genetics

by Georgina Cornwall, PhD

Population genetics is a subfield of genetics that focuses on the study of the genetic characteristics of a population, including the differences between individuals and other populations. The genetic characteristics of a population can be initially understood and described using the Hardy–Weinberg law.

In this course, the student will be introduced to population genetics and the Hardy–Weinberg principle, as well as given a walkthrough of important conditions seen through the lens of population genetics.

For optimal comprehension, the student should be familiar with the basic concepts of molecular and cell biology, with an emphasis on genetics.
