Clinical Skills (Nursing)

by Samantha Rhea, MSN, RN

Nursing clinical skills are the tools that you’ll use on every shift with every patient. Using these tools, you’ll be able to carry out many different nursing procedures that are critical for helping patients improve their health.

Clinical skills are what make nurses feel like nurses, and learning to execute them correctly will make you a very effective nurse.

In this course, we’ll discuss skills such as IV placement, setting up a room with seizure precautions, indwelling catheters, and the fundamentals of wound care. You’ll also learn about central line care, suctioning and tracheostomy care, and removing sutures, among several other essential competencies.
