Corey Hardin, RN, BSN, CV-BC, CCRN-CMC, is a Clinical Manager of the Emergency Department at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. Previously, he was a Service Line Specialist for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. Corey Hardin obtained his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri in 2011. He is board certified in cardiovascular and a critical care registered nurse with a sub-specialty certification in cardiovascular medicine. He has clinical expertise in critical care, cardiovascular medicine, and cardiothoracic surgery.
Samantha Rhea MSN, RN has been a nurse since 2008 and a nursing faculty since 2012. She has been recognized for clinical excellence as an interventional cardiology nurse and also lead a Joint Commission Accredited Stroke Center. Ms. Rhea is an award-winning expert in clinical teaching and continues to maintain a current clinical practice and teach at a University nursing program.
Dr. Rhonda Lawes is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), and an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing in Oklahoma, USA. She obtained her PhD in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2016. Helping nursing students to use the science of cognitive learning to maximize their study effectiveness, Prof. Lawes has earned numerous teaching awards.

Critical care involves caring for those with complex medical needs in high acuity situations.
What is a critical care nurse?
Critical care nurses care for clients with life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Critical care nurses may provide care for a specific population, such as neonates, or specific body systems, such as clients experiencing severe cardiac concerns.
How to become a critical care nurse
On top of passing the NCLEX® and becoming an RN, to become a critical care nurse, you will have to earn a Master of Science degree in nursing and get certified by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) as a critical care nurse.
