Neurologic Disorders – Pediatric Nursing

by Elizabeth Stone, PHD, RN, CPEN, CHSE, FAEN

Children can experience a wide variety of disorders that affect the nervous system, both congenital and acquired. This course offers an overview of common neurologic disorders affecting pediatric populations, as well as how to assess neurological status in pediatric clients.

A robust understanding of the nervous system is essential in order to comprehend the complexities of pediatric neurologic disorders.

As neurological disorders originating in childhood often have lasting effects into adulthood, an understanding of these disorders is essential to proving comprehensive client care, regardless of which department a nurse chooses to practice.
