Light: Electromagnetic Radiation

by Jared Rovny, PhD

Light can be defined as a type of electromagnetic radiation, namely a type of electrical field and linked orthogonal magnetic field that both oscillate with a synced spatial and temporal periodicity. Although light is essential to our existence and beneficial in other ways to our functioning, it can also cause harm. Understanding wavelength, frequency, and other associated concepts will help you gain a deeper understanding of light and electromagnetic radiation.
