Dr. Hirumi currently holds a joint appointment with the Dept. of Learning Sciences in the College of Community Innovation and Education, and the Dept. of Medical Education in the College of Medicine at UCF. For the past 25 years, Dr. Hirumi has centered his teaching, research and service on the design of online and hybrid learning experiences. Dr. Hirumi’s creates systems to train and empower K12, university and corporate educators on the design, development, and delivery of interactive online and blended learning environments. His research concentrates on increasing the productivity and quality of health professions education. He has published over dozens of articles, several books and book chapters, and has made over 150 presentations at international, national, and state conference on related topics. Recent awards include the AECT Award for Long-Term Excellence and Impact in Research, Texas Distance Learning Association award for commitment to excellent and innovation, the Star Faculty Award for outstanding teaching, research and service, and he is the only two-time recipient of the WebCT exemplary online course award.
