00:00 So let me now summarize what I’ve described in this lecture. I’ve named the various organs of the female reproductive system. And then, I have concentrated on the ovary and I’ve described all the stages of follicular growth, the follicular phase of the ovarian cycle. And we’ve seen how the follicle grows and then what hormone is secreted by that follicle, and what controls the secretion of these hormones from the follicle. After the ovulatory phase, the ruptured follicle develops the corpus luteum, and that corpus luteum is a very important structure secreting progesterone and estrogens. Know what hormones control the secretory role of this corpus luteum during the luteal phase of the ovarian cycle. And then understand why the corpus luteum on most occasions regresses. Why the support or hormonal support for the corpus luteum is withdrawn. So thank you very much for listening to this lecture. I hope you now know a lot about the histological structure of the ovary and all the changes that occur within the ovary during the normal menstrual cycle and ovarian cycle. And I again, thank you for listening.
The lecture Ovary: Summary – Female Reproductive System by Geoffrey Meyer, PhD is from the course Reproductive Histology.
