Cranial nerve VIII or
vestibulocochlear nerve,
it's sort of like
two nerves in one.
00:08
We can think of
the cochlear nerve
as the nerve that's connecting to the
organ of corti within the cochlea,
which is the organ of hearing.
00:16
And that information is going to be
passed through the cochlear nerve
back to nuclei in the medulla.
00:24
There's also the
vestibular component,
and the vestibular component
will carry information
from things like the utricle,
saccule and the semicircular canals.
00:32
Also back to nuclei
in the medulla.
The lecture Vestibulocochlear Nerve (CN VIII) by Darren Salmi, MD, MS is from the course Neurovasculature of the Head.
Where are the nuclei of cranial nerve VIII?
