The WHO, NIH, and the copdfoundation.org have slightly different definitions that we shared with you today, but there is agreement that the disease involves airway impairment. Now the disease is progressive and it causes increasing difficulty with breathing. Diagnosis of COPD is based on the history of symptoms and pulmonary function test. A chest x-ray is used to rule out other possible diseases and to identify complications of COPD. Now, ABGs will initially show lower oxygen and then eventually rising CO2 depending upon the exacerbation and the progression of the disease. Thank you for watching our video today.
