    Transcript

00:00 So to recap our lecture on the cellular level of organization, The cell is the smallest functional unit of the human body.

00:10 It has a selected permeable plasma membrane that separates the internal and external environments and discriminates what can get you into and out of the cell.

00:23 Inside of the cell, we have the cytoplasm which contains a liquid cytosol and the cellular organelles.

00:32 Each of these organelles are going to perform a specific function within the cell.

00:38 The nucleus inside of the cell is going to contain DNA and RNA.

00:44 This is going to contain the information for the production of proteins.

00:49 And finally, the cells are gonna replicate by different types of cell division In our somatic cells, we have mitosis where our gamete cells are sperm and ovum, are going to be meiosis.

01:06 Thank you for listening to my lecture on the cellular level of organization.

    About the Lecture

The lecture Cell Structure: In a Nutshell (Nursing) by Jasmine Clark, PhD is from the course Cell Structure of the Human Body – Physiology (Nursing).

    Included Quiz Questions

    1. The selectively permeable membrane separates the external environment from the internal cytoplasm containing cytosol and organelles.
    2. The selectively permeable membrane separates the internal environment from the external cytoplasm containing cytosol and organelles.
    3. The selectively permeable membrane separates the internal environment from the external cytoplasm containing the endoplasmic reticulum, where cellular division occurs.
