00:01
Travel nursing is a
nursing job for people
who want to wander all over and
get paid all sorts of money.
00:07
Nurse techs tend to go on to
LPN school for this reason.
00:11
Basically, once you've been a nurse
for a few years, at least two,
and even in certain specialties,
you're able to sign up with
a travel nursing agency,
and can take contracts
all over the country.
00:25
Now, this is going to be really
helpful because hospitals
usually need travel nurses to
fill gaps for patient care.
00:32
Now, you're usually paid
very well which is great.
00:35
But what's not great as you can
get cancelled as a travel nurse,
which leaves you without pay.
00:42
Now are there a ton of different
travel nursing agencies out there,
all of them have
different specialties,
working with different
health care systems.
00:51
So this means that I don't really
have any recommendations, though,
for one particular agency.
00:58
But there's lots of content
out there on social media,
and nurses who've traveled
you certain agencies,
and you may want to look
for their tips and tricks.
01:08
Now, the thing to remember with this
is that you need to be really confident
and solid in your skills before you
launch into this type of nursing.
01:18
Now, when you take a contract,
that unit, that hospital,
they're going to expect you
to hit the ground running.
01:25
You're going to have to
start taking assignments,
sometimes without
any orientation.
01:31
So maybe you get a few hours
to be shown around the unit,
maybe where the dirty utility
closet is or the supply room.
01:39
But otherwise,
you're going to be expected to know
how to do the job without
much further training.
01:46
But such a cool opportunity for a
lot of people who want to travel,
see the country and then gain a
little money while they're at it.
01:55
Here is one more thought
on travel nursing.
01:58
LPNs can indeed take
travel nursing positions.
02:01
However, as a travel nurse,
you got to be really careful
about following the institutions policy
and procedure that you're working in.
02:12
As a travel nurse,
you are usually unfamiliar
with how things are
done in that hospital
or even in that state when you're
visiting there and working.
02:21
You've got to figure out where to access
these resources to protect yourself,
your patients,
and a 100% your license.
