00:01 Now let's have a look at tinea faciei.

00:05 This is the dermatophyte infection of the face.

00:09 And it happens in areas without terminal hairs.

00:13 As we all know that mostly in women the face has got villous hairs, no terminal hairs unless if one is talking about beard.

00:21 And there's another type of fungal infection that we get that is associated with beard.

00:27 So again, the most common cause here is Trichophyton rubrum.

00:33 The fungus spreads from the existing foot or nail infection.

    00:37 So it is anthropophilic.

00:41 So if the spread, if the fungus spreads from one person to the other, we call it anthropophilic.

00:48 If it's from animals to humans, it's zoophilic.

00:52 If it's from the soil to humans, it's then geophilic.

00:58 Microsporum canis, which is geophilic, is a fungus as well, which spreads from pets, that is, cats, dogs, and livestock. This presents with annular plaques that resemble tinea corporis, but it is usually located on the face.

01:20 This may be round or oval scaly patches with central clearing.

01:26 Some of the lesions may have raised border.

01:31 So differential diagnosis of tinea fascia is atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and psoriasis.
