This course covers the material of content category 5C of the official MCAT exam content outline.

Separation and purification describe the processes by which chemical substances are separated and, in a manner of speaking, cleansed of impurities. These processes have many applications in science and medicine, such as the separation of flue and other petroleum products from crude oil and or the electrophoresis of proteins.

In this course, the student will be introduced to separation and purification methods. For optimal comprehension, the student is expected to have a college-level understanding of chemistry and physics.
