00:00 In terms of stigma, so from 2 different perspectives when we talk about stigma, I can replace that word with marginalization, races, and discrimination.

00:15 All of those different things have danger related to one because it does have debilitating effects.

00:21 It threatens our psychological and physical safety for all humans and that leads to adverse events.

00:29 In the space of healthcare, we know that according toJjoint Commission, a sentinel event is a patient safety event that results in death, permanent harm, or severe temporary harm.

00:40 In the space of doing this DEIB work and from a humanitarian lens, a sentinel event is a human safety event.

00:48 So whether that's in a healthcare space or in an organization, it threatens safety especially psychological safety and as we all know when your psychological safety or mental health is impaired it does lead to physical conditions.

01:03 An example I use to help people to remember that those commercials about certain different antidepressants talks about how depression hurts, well is true.

01:15 And any type of mental health aberration hurts because it does go from a psychological issue and develops into a physical issue based on the stress.
