    00:01 Micturition is the process of urination or voiding.

    00:06 There are three simultaneous events that must occur in order for micturition to occur.

    00:12 First, you have contraction of the detrusor by the autonomic nervous system.

    00:18 Also, you have the opening of an internal urethral sphincter by the autonomic nervous system.

    00:25 These first two events are under involuntary control.

    00:31 Finally, under voluntary control, you have the opening of the external urethral sphincter during the actual process of micturition.
