00:01 Alright, so we've tested our knowledge on knowing when membranes are ruptured, and we've tested our knowledge on knowing when labor may have started. 00:10 So let's talk about the labor. 00:12 So next we're going to look at the stages and also the phases of labor. 00:17 So there are actually four stages and we're going to break this down into each stage. 00:22 So stage 1 begins with the onset of regular contractions, and cervical change, because we now know that's labor, and it ends when the cervix is dilated to 10 centimeters. 00:34 Stage 2 goes from 10 centimeters to delivery of the fetus. 00:40 So that might be an exciting time that we get to talk about a little bit later. 00:44 Stage 3 goes from delivery of the fetus to delivery of the placenta, and stage four goes from delivery of the placenta to two hours after delivery. 00:56 So those are the stages.
The lecture 4 Stages of Labor: Introduction (Nursing) by Jacquelyn McMillian-Bohler, PhD, CNM is from the course Stages of Labor (Nursing).
