00:00 Welcome to relax, recharge and reorganize.

00:04 Make the most of your out of your winter break.

00:08 I cannot believe how fast this year has gone.

    00:11 It's gone pretty quickly.

00:13 So again, if you are new, you probably don't know who I am.

00:17 I'm Nicole Shinn, I'm responsible for student engagement.

00:19 Lecturio. So welcome. And we have, of course, Nurse Liz here. So, um.

00:25 And Nurse Liz is a nurse practitioner and one of my great buddies.

00:30 If you were just at the Pennsylvania Conference, we were there together. We're the dynamic duo. Um, and so if you were just there, we met you in person. Hopefully that's why you're here today.

00:40 But we're we're going to be your presenters today, and we're going to help you make the most out of your winter break and have a little bit of fun. So let's go ahead and get started.

00:47 So did you all bring your backpacks? Did you bring your back? I have my backpack.

00:53 I have my purse. We're going to call it even.

00:56 Liz uses a handbag. I have my backpack.

00:58 So get out your backpack because we're going to do a backpack scavenger hunt throughout the entire event today.

01:06 If you have all the items, you get one month of Lecturio premium for free. If you have all the items.

01:14 So we're going to tell you how to do that. You're basically at the end, you're going to take one snapshot. We're going to give you a QR code or link.

01:21 You just snapshot that one picture of all your items, and you get one month of Lecturio premium for free.

01:28 If you already have a membership, we'll extend it for a month.

01:32 How great is that? And also, once you submit your your enter into the drawing, you're going to also be in a drawing for, um, a Amazon gift card, $50 Amazon gift card along with a six month Lecturio premium membership.

01:50 So you'll be in the drawing for that too.

01:52 So everybody wins. Who submits all the items in one picture? Everybody gets one month and the grand prize is $50 Amazon gift card and six months of Lecturio premium for free.

02:05 So let's go ahead and get started.

02:07 First backpack item scavenger hunt.

02:11 Do you have in your backpack a stethoscope and a notebook and or a textbook? So if you have that item in your backpack, Nurse Liz has her stethoscope.

02:24 You have that item. But I don't have a notebook.

    02:27 Notebook. Textbook. Saunders.

02:31 You have that. A notebook can be a spiral.

    02:35 I think we'll even take probably a pad.

02:37 Anything that you could take notes.

02:39 I think we'll count that right. Nurse Liz.

    02:42 Oh, yeah. I have a pacifier.

02:43 All right. Does that count? Pacifier. I love pacifier.

02:51 Alright, so. Oh, we got a couple.

02:53 So? So, stethoscope. Someone has a stethoscope.

02:56 Oh. How awesome! Alrighty now, if you do not have Lecturio Premium Nursing premium yet and you haven't checked this out, you need to do so. This is winter break is the perfect time to start if you haven't started. So we're doing a special deal for the 12 month plan only.

03:14 We'll give you all the information.

03:16 You'll have a link and everything to get access to this special discount.

03:20 And so it's going to be a reduced price of basically $100 for a year, which is awesome. So if you're not familiar with our resources, we have, uh, video library, um, lessons have so many of those that we're adding more. We also have our, um, space repetition quiz questions that are going to help you. We have our qbank.

03:39 We have our study planner.

03:41 So much, so much that you're going to be able to do.

03:43 And Nurse Liz is going to walk you through how to how to get through this winter break, but we're going to be able to help you do that with your Lecturio resources. So please, please, please, if you haven't already, check it out because you're going to see you can really maximize your time using the resources we have, and we have so much that we offer.

    04:02 Another backpack item.

04:04 Flash cards and a pen light.

04:09 Flash cards and pen light.

04:10 Who has flash cards and pen light? Oh. There's some. There's a lot of people that have both flash cards.

    04:18 That's impressive. Yes.

04:20 Okay. This is like our one where we were like, oh, no one will have these.

04:24 Yeah. Well, I knew the flash cards.

04:27 Y'all love flash cards, right? So. Okay. So I'm going to turn it over to Nurse Liz.

04:34 How to use your winter break to get you ready for next semester.

04:38 And if you are a December grad and you're here, we know you don't have a next semester, but you do have the test of your life coming up, right? And you can use.

04:48 No pressure, no pressure, no pressure.

04:51 But you can use Lecturio to fill in those knowledge gaps.

04:54 Okay. So don't don't walk away just yet.

04:58 Don't walk away just yet.

04:59 If you're a December grad, you can definitely use Lecturio even if you already have some other resources.

05:05 It's a great way to supplement, even if you have something already.

05:09 If you're pre-nursing, you're the right place at the right time.

05:14 Anybody, at any level, any semester.

05:18 This is going to help you while you have this idle time, all this time on your hands.

05:24 So, Nurse Liz, take it away.

05:27 All right. And one thing, um, we talked about this at snap.

05:30 The cool thing, if you're a senior, when they give, when you're going through the NCLEX, like practice questions, it's really helpful to have something like this where you can just type in, you know, it'll say like, oh, you're wrong.

05:41 And here's the rationale why.

05:42 But even then, most of the time if you're anything like me, then you look at the words and you're like, well, I still don't understand it. So then you YouTube it. But this is just like a more comprehensive, you know, not a YouTube.

    05:52 It's very thought through.

05:54 It has quizzes, so that's the best way to use it is just kind of identify what you don't know and then learn. Because NCLEX things don't necessarily have the best teaching things in them. They're great at questions.

06:04 Okay. Let us dive in. So first how long is your winter break? Let me know in the chat how long you guys have for winter break.

06:12 I feel like most places you get like what, like six weeks ish.

06:17 And so that's like a decent time to just kind of like rest and recharge type of thing.

06:23 Because the first thing we're going to talk about is so, so, so important for you to really just take this time to six weeks.

06:30 Sweet Tuesday, about a month.

06:31 Okay. Good. Oh, two weeks.

    06:34 That's brutal. Um, yikes.

06:36 So another two weeks. Brooke.

06:38 Oh my gosh. Okay, so you're going to do, like, some super resting if you only have two weeks. Honestly, I would just rest because that is not very long at all.

06:45 And so you're going to want to just pack in as much downtime as you possibly have when you're in school. Your brain, if you're anything like I was like, there was never any downtime.

06:55 You finished your assignments and then even when you finished your assignments, there was something to study for. And if you finished studying, then there was a paper to start on.

07:01 And if you finished writing your paper, then you had to worry about like, you know, every other, you know, reading like an entire textbook that's this thick. Um, and so you're so not used to just being able to, like, sit down at the end of the day and be like, oh, I am done. And there's something so helpful about being able to sit down, uh, like at the end of the day and be like, yep, I've checked everything off. Like my brain can actually shut down.

07:24 So this is going to be a really good time for you to just rest because your brain has been so stressed it has not stopped.

07:31 So it's kind of still in like fight or flight mode.

07:34 And it is so, so important for your mental health and your physical health to just like, chill out and like do nothing.

07:41 So one of the first things like if you only have two weeks, do not do anything like please do not do anything, just like relax at least for, you know, if you have just two weeks, I would just take both of two weeks and until you get to the very end, and then we'll plan and we'll talk about that in a minute. But I would just take both to just like, relax and let your brain like, take a breath because that is going to leave you feeling a little bit more recharged versus, you know, if you're pumping adrenaline all the time, like you're if we're talking like medically, your cortisol levels, your stress hormones are like through the roof. And that's going to make you feel anxious, jittery, unable to focus because your body thinks you are fighting a bear.

08:22 And we just need to tell your body for a moment like the bear is hibernating.

08:26 Just rest so that you have the power to kind of power through the next semester.

08:30 Because nursing school is a serious marathon.

08:32 Yes, Amara, you're going to literally just crash.

08:36 Cathy. Massage, petty and naps.

08:38 That is an excellent approach.

08:40 I approve. Um, and I think there is when we kind of when you're thinking about resting, I don't want you like you should just.

08:49 If you need to get off of social media during winter break, I think you should, because I have found personally, when I try to take breaks, the thing that I'm going to come back, I'm going to go scrolling on social media.

08:58 I'm suing, seeing other people, doing all of the things.

09:01 And I'm like, oh, I should be doing that too.

09:03 And then I start to feel like crap about myself and like, oh, what I'm doing. Like, oh, I'm so lazy, oh, I'm blah blah blah blah blah, when really, like, it's very normal to just be able to rest.

09:11 So if you need to get off of social media, I don't care what all of your friends in nursing school are doing, and they're tagging you in the Facebook groups for your school and they're like, oh my gosh, like, I'm I've read the entire Patho textbook for next semester, even though, like like just calm down.

09:28 Ignore those people for right now.

09:29 Um, there's nothing wrong with you for needing to rest. It just means you're human and you value your mental and physical health.

09:36 All right, next items in our scavenger hunt.

09:40 A charger for whatever device.

09:42 It doesn't really matter which one.

09:44 And headphones I feel like these were.

09:47 These were my like. I feel like most people will have these.

09:50 All right. Nicole's got him.

    09:51 I have, like, 12 chargers.

09:53 Me two one here. I have my headphones.

09:58 They have a cactus. And you know what's going on with them? I was going to say, you know what my headphones look like right now? I can't find them in my backpack.

10:09 Oh, here they are. Oh, yes.

10:14 How am I not shocked? That's amazing.

10:16 So yeah. So they don't have to be over the ear.

    10:18 That's fine. Whatever you.

    10:19 Whatever your preference.

10:21 Let me see yours again. Yep.

10:23 What's yours? The cactus are cactuses.

10:27 See, so I have the AirPods.

10:29 And then the thing that helps me find them when my children squirrel them away, and then they're cactuses. That's a bonus.

    10:34 That's a bonus. So. Oh, yeah.

10:36 It doesn't have to be AirPods.

10:38 They can be the the ones with the I forgot what you call them now AirPod earbuds with the strings regular over the head doesn't matter, but put in the pole if you have those items.

10:51 I think it's ironic now that those are like coveted the regular headphones with like tick tock, because they're like a little microphone. I'm like, go figure.

10:58 I just remember when those used to be like, they went out of style and now they're back in. So, um, yeah, I know now I'm like, oh, we'll look at that.

11:07 Um, so and most of you had both of those.

11:09 So good. Cathy says glitzy.

11:11 Yes. Um, Cathy. And definitely like a lot.

11:14 Cathy's saying that she follows a lot of healthcare professionals. So definitely a social media fast. I think that's really helpful.

11:20 Um, like, like I said, because everyone's going to be out there just like motivating, like look at you. Like, here's how you're going to get ready for next semester. And if that helps you, by all means, like plug into that if that motivates you.

11:32 But if you're someone like, I would need to just distance myself from it and be like, my social media is going to be filled with baking and crochet and cute animals, and that's fine, and we'll get you through.

11:45 And then at the end you can unmute everybody and be like, all right, I'm ready to learn.

11:49 Okay. So the next big thing is going to be getting into a routine.

11:53 Now this is if once you've rested once you've kind of had your reset.

11:56 So if you just have two weeks like I said stop at stage one.

11:59 This is all going to kind of build on each other. But if you have time and you know, you you're one of those people with a month or like six weeks, take your break and then we're going to want to get your brain ready to learn and operate the most efficiently. And that's going to be by moving your body and sleeping.

12:16 So if you have watched some of these before, and I'm not going to pretend like I know all the science behind it because I don't. But Prof.

12:24 Laws has talked about she's done.

12:26 Um, she has her PhD or some kind of doctorate in learning science, and she has talked about how your brain literally makes more connections if it is well rested and if you have had movement that day, whether you've gone on a walk, if you've climbed your stairs 12 times, if you've, you know, gone out, if you're one of those magical humans that can run if you run. Awesome.

12:48 Any kind of movement and being well rested, your brain is literally going to put off more connections because that's how our brains work, right? Is they send off and you're learning something when you make connections over and over and over, and the more connections you make, the stronger they get.

13:04 Well, if you sleep and you exercise like just moving your body, you're going to get more sticky points. So you're going to get lots more like feelers out there. So the connections are easier and they actually grow stronger. So if you want to watch hers, all of the, um, mentoring like we call these mentoring sessions, they are on the Lecturio website.

13:21 They're free. You can watch any of them.

13:23 She's that one was under and Nicole can probably correct me.

13:25 I think it was like a learning science one.

13:27 Um, and she like goes into the details of it, but it was fascinating.

13:31 Oh, perfect. Sarah, just put a link to it.

13:34 Um, but this was the basics of it, and I thought it was fascinating.

13:37 So this is the time to get into those habits, because habits take like a little while to get into.

13:42 So this is when over this break, Once you've had your break, you're going to want to start to get into the routine of school.

13:49 So it's really hard to just jump right into school because obviously school is overwhelming. It's easier and then it's hard.

13:54 On top of that, if you're like me and you like slept every day until 11 and then all of a sudden you're supposed to be, like dressed somewhere else by 7:30 a.m. and you're like, excuse me? So as unfun as it is towards the end here, you know, a week and a half, two weeks towards the end of your break, start getting into a routine. I mean, you can even do it from the start, but staying up late is kind of fun, I'm not gonna lie.

14:15 Um, start getting into the routine. When do you have to be up? Start going to bed a little bit earlier.

14:19 Start looking into on Pinterest what meals you're going to be able to prepare for the school semester, and maybe even plan them all out.

14:28 I made crockpot meals in nursing school.

14:30 I had like five. They were not crazy.

14:34 They were very easy and I survived off of them for most of the time.

14:37 I ate like the same exact thing for lunch every single day because it was super easy.

14:41 But I knew that this was something that I could easily have.

14:45 I would prep all my snacks at the beginning of the week so that I wasn't just sitting there like mindlessly munching.

14:50 My body felt better. It was easier.

14:52 I wasn't going to go and grab for something that I knew was going to make me tired and sluggish. It was just, you know, doing the best with what you can.

14:59 So now is the time. But, um, when you're in the semester, you aren't going to want to do that, right? Because you're already overwhelmed.

15:05 You have like 12 papers and 8 million things happening, and you're like, there's no way. But if you do it now, if you have the energy to, like, go scroll on Pinterest for a minute and mark some recipes and just plan out some basic things. Pinterest has a ton of really cute, like meal planners.

15:20 Etsy has a bajillion of them.

15:21 There are even places that will do this for you.

15:24 Um, just look for those.

15:26 Plan it out. That way you don't have to think about it. And now you will have food.

15:29 Because if we're thinking about things that are stressful, it's like food. Um, am I going to sleep enough? So now we've marked out both of those. And then any kind of body movement getting into the start of the routine early is going to be helpful.

15:40 Uh, because getting moving is usually the hardest part and it doesn't have to be anything, anything wild.

15:47 You know, if you want to put on your favorite podcast or an audiobook and just go on a walk if you want to climb your stairs. If you have a dog, if you have children and you chase them around your yard, that also counts. So like literally anything.

15:59 Body movement and your body will just kind of get used to it. And it'll be like, I'd like to go on a walk. And then by the time school starts, you can then go and you can download your favorite Lecturio, you know, whatever one you have to watch for class the next day and take that with you on your walk instead of your podcast, and it'll just be part of your routine.

16:16 So biggest things there are get into a sleep pattern so that it's not shocking and you're kind of already in the routine.

16:23 Plan out all of your foods so that you're prepared and you're not grabbing, you know, something that's not going to make you feel great, and then just start getting in the habit of moving your body.

    16:30 Okay. Next. Backpack items.

16:34 Lip balm. Do we have lip balm? So funny. I have go ahead.

16:40 You go first. Oh, no. I just have very boring Vaseline lip.

    16:45 Theory. Lip therapy. Original.

16:47 Oh, you're making me feel bad.

16:50 I have someone. Mm mm.

16:55 I love it, though. That smells better.

16:58 Spf 30. Yeah. So yours is way more fun than mine.

17:02 And actually, I lost. I just found it recently.

17:04 Perfect timing. Right? Perfect. And a snack. You want to see my snack? Our snack. What's your snack? What do you have? Talk about eating a balanced diet.

    17:17 I have a ring, pop. Guilty.

    17:18 But look. Reduce guilt.

    17:21 I have children. Okay.

17:23 There you go, guys. Do you have your lip balm and your snack in your backpack? You'll need these next. Good.

17:31 All these? Oh, yes. I don't know how people function without snacks.

    17:36 I have snacks everywhere.

17:37 Like, in every bag I've ever had.

17:39 I'm like, here, let me feed everyone.

17:41 It's fine. It's probably because I get very cranky when I don't have food.

17:47 Yeah, I even my best friend in nursing school would carry food for me because she just knew. She was like, oh, like, heaven forbid you forgot your snack.

17:56 If I carry food for you, I eat the food.

17:58 That's how that goes. Alright, we have another one.

18:04 Most people had both. That's right.

    18:06 Okay. Plan your semester.

18:10 This is the one thing that kind of going along with rest that I think everyone should do. So I'm going to tell you how I would plan for the semester kind of broadly.

18:20 And then we're going to talk about, on a very nitty gritty level, how you're going to actually set up your planner. So the third thing would be have your planner, because like I said, everything once you get into the semester is intensely overwhelming, but before it, you kind of have enough brain space because you're relaxed to take up.

18:36 I call these planning days like days of sorrow or doom, because you're basically looking at everything you need to do for the entire semester, and that's really overwhelming. So you need to give yourself a day to just kind of like, wallow and be sad.

18:48 And it works a lot better if that's in the middle of a break versus like class, and then everyone's like, what's wrong with you? Why are you so sad? So on the broad level, first we're going to set a specific learning goal.

19:00 And this is helpful because if have you started learning about like obtainable like nursing goals, um, which are kind of like easy to laugh at and be like, oh my gosh. Um, if like everyone has like you have to have a set attainable nursing goal.

19:16 But I have actually found it very helpful, especially in nursing school, to be like, I am working towards this specific thing because especially if you're at the beginning, it can.

19:25 Nursing school can kind of seem like this huge beast, and you can forget to kind of check things off.

19:30 And I do well when I check small things off.

19:32 So we're going to start at the very beginning. We're going to set goals. I want to pass Pharmacology. I want to learn how to give a bed bath this semester.

19:40 I want to learn how to walk into a patient's room and not feel like I'm going to vomit when I speak to them and have to take their vital signs.

19:49 I want to graduate. I want to whatever you're going to do by the end of this semester.

19:55 Create your goal or like a couple of goals that you want to accomplish by the end of this semester or even mid semester.

20:02 And that way when you tick them off, you're going to feel so much more accomplished rather than just like, oh, like the time is kind of aimlessly passing. And it will also give you something to work towards.

20:12 So when you're sitting there one day and you're exhausted and you're like, I hate everything. Um, you'll have something to go back to and be like, oh, look, I've accomplished all of these goals so far.

20:20 I will accomplish this one.

20:21 It's just going to take me a minute and it gives you a little bit of like, motivation of like, this is what I'm doing this for.

20:27 So if you want to tie your purpose back of like why you're even in nursing school, that works even better.

20:33 Um, just to give you something like an attainable goal that you can check off and you can move forward from.

20:39 The next thing, um, oh, here's more goals.

    20:42 Perfect. Just kidding.

20:43 Um. Planning steps. It'll help you figure out a timeline.

20:46 Like I said, any kind of thing.

20:48 If you are graduating soon.

20:50 One moment. I have small humans in my home.

20:53 Um, if you're graduating soon, you know, this goal could be like, I want to take the NCLEX, I want to find a job, anything like that.

20:59 But laying them out helps you accomplish them more.

21:02 Um, you can if you want to, like, help part of your planning out.

21:07 If you are the type of human who is going to need to absolutely start studying because I know you're out there. I am the type of human who I'm like, I will procrastinate until like, I just will.

21:19 But I know there are a lot of you out there who and you can let me know in the chat. If this is you, you need to start doing something because it will actually make you less anxious if you start planning out your semester, like with actual information and like consuming resources, then if you just did what I did, which was just lay on my couch watching Netflix. If you are a human who in part of your planning process, you want to look at the actual classes that are ahead of you for this semester, you could start just reviewing some of our courses, seeing like, oh, I am going like it would make me feel more comfortable going into farm. If I have already watched a few videos, kind of gotten an idea of what I'm getting myself into.

21:57 Um, if I've watched a few that are going to be in the first module, you know, if you are feeling very ambitious, you can go and start like seeing what's going on in the rest of the semester and then actually going through and like watching some of those modules just to get your feet wet so that it is not all brand new information when you get there in the beginning of the semester.

    22:18 Um, let's have a backpack break.

22:20 Nicole, do you have a mask? Backpack check. You go first.

22:26 I have so many masks. I have many masks.

22:33 Where is the baby? That is the.

22:37 I have my mask, but it doesn't have a filter in it right now.

22:40 The baby mask. My favorite.

22:42 Okay, so we have our mask.

    22:45 Paw patrol. Aha. Okay.

22:48 The other item is an IV flush.

    22:53 I don't have that anymore.

22:57 This was another one that was hard for people.

    23:01 Have both. Yeah. Congrats.

23:04 This was my thing. I told Nicole I was like, I was like, there's going to be people IV flushes, just kind of like, become.

23:09 I don't know how they come home with you, but they come home with you and you don't remember and they stay there forever, I love it.

23:18 You just open up your utensil drawer and there's.

23:21 You do knives. It's. Yeah.

23:24 You would get into, like, your car at the end of your shift and you're like, why are these in my pants? Like, what are these doing here? Wonderful item to have.

23:35 It really for sure. Oh, is that zooming for everyone else? Let me see. Hang on one second.

24:01 While we're waiting on Nurse Liz, you have to go in the trash can and, um. And get your. And get them.

    24:10 I think I saw you tossed.

24:11 You literally just tossed them. You got to go back and get them. Go back. Go back in your trash can and get them alcohol pads.

24:18 I think those are great too.

24:20 Those come in handy for a lot of things.

24:22 Oh my goodness. You can find one.

24:26 I bet you have one somewhere nearby.

24:30 Two boxes of masks in your car.

24:32 Awesome. Got it. All right, we're all set.

24:37 Needed a moment? Yeah. My internet just.

24:39 It needed a moment. Your internet's ready for winter break.

24:43 It was. It was like. Oh, okay.

24:44 Great. I'm done. Okay, so this is the final.

24:50 You know how we were talking about, like, when you're looking at Planning. We started on the macro. We looked at the whole broad picture to give you motivation.

24:56 This is like the nitty gritty of how I want you to use your planner.

24:59 Let me know. Do you already have a planner for 2022? I do, it's cute. I have a real one and a digital one because I can't make up my mind.

25:08 But here is how we are going to work your planner.

25:12 So like we talked about the day of Doom, you're going to want to pick a day of doom, and you're going to use this to look at your entire semester.

25:20 It's going to be an overwhelming day. Make sure everyone you know is aware that you're going to probably be pretty cranky on this day.

25:26 Have a nice comfort meal for yourself.

25:28 Just be prepared to like, feel things.

25:30 On this day, you're going to get all the syllabuses for all your classes.

25:35 You're going to lay them all out, you're going to get your planner out, and you are going to write down every single due date, every single assignment, every single lab, every day.

25:43 You have to be at clinical, whatever it is for the entire semester.

25:46 It's going to take a little while.

25:48 Like I said, it's going to make you kind of sad, but that's the only time I want you to ever look at the big picture of the semester, okay? Because it's an overwhelming process.

25:58 And nursing school is it's a lot.

26:01 I feel like there's a lot of things where people are like, it's so hard and it's definitely hard and challenging, but the bigger thing is it's just a lot.

26:08 But you can tackle a lot and you can tackle a lot by just making lists and slowly tacking away. You're going to do the thing where you like, eat the elephant very slowly, write down all of the things, and then have your day of overwhelm.

26:19 And then when you get to the beginning of the semester, I want you to only look 2 or 3 weeks in advance.

26:25 See what you have to do.

26:26 Buy those days. Do I have a paper due? Do I have a test? Do you can have your Planning day at the beginning of the week.

    26:32 Sunday. Saturday. Monday.

26:34 Looking ahead for the three weeks and then start writing down to dos.

26:37 Like what can I actually get done this week that will get me towards those goals? Making attainable lists for every single day.

26:44 Just little things, crossing them off and getting there.

26:47 So that way you're starting your paper, you're starting to study, you're reading the things you need to do.

26:51 So you're looking ahead just as far as three weeks because that's the horizon.

26:55 And anything else we aren't even going to worry about, we're not going to deal with it.

26:58 It is far in the future and we will get there when we get there the next week.

27:02 Again, go three weeks out, see what do I have to do now? Has something else shown up on my horizon? What little tasks can I start to do now in order to tackle that? And that is going to leave you feeling so much less overwhelmed because you're not just opening your planner and being like, oh wow, look, I have this is a ton.

27:20 It's going to be little tackle, little things, and that's going to feel so much better. Um, all right Nicole Scavenger hunt.

27:29 You're up. And that's the big points.

27:32 I think that concludes our, uh, all the major things we need to do.

27:37 I guess we should ask really quickly any questions, anything that you're curious about.

27:47 If you have any questions about how to plan or anything we talked about, everybody's good. Everybody knows what we're going to be doing.

27:56 Everyone's going to take a little rest break. Everyone's going to get some sleep. Okay, that sounds good. Sounds good, sounds good.

28:04 Alrighty. Well, let's move on to the next portion of our scavenger backpack hunt.

    28:12 Our scavenger hunt. Sorry.

28:13 Okay. So here's a look back at all the items.

28:20 Now, um, you're going to see that you can click this download.

28:24 You just click this link and you'll be able to send in.

28:27 What you're going to do is you're going to send in one picture of all your items together, and you need to send it in within the next 30 minutes.

28:34 So we know that you didn't run to the store and buy anything. So, so on that that download, you'll have a list of just in case you forgot something or, you know, like, oh, I just need to get it from right here. We will give you time to do that.

28:49 And so everyone has all the items.

28:51 You'll get one month of Lecturio premium membership for free.

28:55 If you already are a premium member, we'll extend it.

28:57 I also forgot to mention, uh, we were talking about the drawing earlier, so everyone will be entered into the drawing for one Lecturio nursing pack.

29:05 So just some goodies that you'll get, so we'll let you know if you're the winner for that. And our grand prize, which is a $50 Amazon gift card, which comes in handy right now, you know, um, and also six months of Lecturio premium for free.

29:19 So, um, great. If you win the prize.

29:22 So all you have to do is within 30 minutes, just take a snapshot of your items in one little pile together and then, um, send it in really quick and then we will follow up with you. You'll get all that. You'll see all the instructions within, um, a few days, a week or so, because today is Tuesday, so you'll know if you've won or not.

29:41 And then we'll tell you what to do next.

29:42 So we hope you enjoyed it.

29:44 We hope it was fun, a little exciting.

29:47 And also just to remind you, some things you should have in your backpack, like a camera. Your son's stethoscope definitely counts.

29:55 Yes, I think Fisher-Price is legit, right? Yeah, I mean, I've I've been diagnosed with many maladies with my daughter's stethoscope, I mean, operation, I can't remember what's in there.

30:08 But if you can find something in operation game that works, maybe there's an IV flush in there.

30:13 I don't know what she told me.

30:16 Kangaroos earlier. She was like, you have kangaroos in there? I was like, that's not good.

    30:21 I don't know a lot about that.

30:25 So you be creative. We will accept creativity.

30:29 Creativity counts. So we hope you enjoyed that.

30:33 So now the fun part. The best part even though planning is fun.

30:38 I love planning, but we want to celebrate you all.

30:42 You all have. All of you have had accomplishments throughout from the time you started your nursing school program.

30:48 Even if you haven't started, you had to really think hard if you even wanted to apply and take that step.

30:54 So every step is an accomplishment.

30:58 Every day is an accomplishment.

31:00 You should be so proud of yourself.

31:02 You've made it this far.

    31:04 Every little bit counts.

31:06 And so we want to give you some shout outs that you have given to us.

31:11 And we want to recognize you and make sure that you pat yourself on the back, as a lot of you did. Um, if you did register late, then we did cut it off.

31:21 But let's all celebrate together and let's just, you know, have a good time.

31:25 So, Liz, hit the music.

31:29 Oh, yes. Liz is our. Dj today.

31:34 And you start off first.

31:37 So let's go ahead. Let's get these.

31:39 Let's celebrate. How was our music level? I'm very new at the DJ game.

    31:44 Okay. Yeah okay. Perfect.

31:47 All right. So. Oh let me close that.

31:51 Let's see. Linda, congratulations on getting accepted into nursing school with a GPA of 3.88, which is amazing.

31:57 And receiving a great final clinical evaluation for my first semester, which is no small feat.

32:03 Um, Mark passed maternal and child health nursing and soon my hopeful.

32:10 Hopefully he passes his research study soon, which I'm sure he will go.

32:15 Mark and Linda. Oh my goodness.

32:18 And Andrea, she's uh, has a 4.0 GPA, which is amazing.

32:24 And she got into nursing school.

    32:27 That's awesome Andrea.

32:28 Good work, good job. And to Gabriella, who successfully started nursing school.

32:35 That's terrific. And you're enjoying your college experience? That sometimes never happens.

    32:41 That's amazing. That's huge.

    32:44 For sure. That's fantastic.

32:45 Congrats. For sure. Megan, um, organized a skill lab.

32:50 Skills lab workshop for her class run by an ER physician who are volunteering their time.

    32:55 That's amazing. Megan.

32:57 Um, Angela got a one third 1113 on the hesi, which sounds phenomenal.

33:06 And Gabrielle finished level 100.

33:09 That is a amazing, right? Because we all can't do everything.

33:14 We can't be good at everything. So congrats, Gabrielle.

33:17 And Christina is Christina is my girl.

    33:22 Getting through the semester.

33:23 A type of that is wonderful.

33:27 Christina. You go like that is exactly.

33:29 That's the attitude. That's all you need to do this semester.

33:33 Not everyone makes it through the semester, so congrats.

33:36 All right. Vanessa moved into a new house, which is very impressive in the middle of school. That is something that I am facing, and it's a lot.

33:45 So good for you. Um, Oluwakemi is passing midterms also huge.

33:54 I am aware my DJ skills are lacking here.

33:56 Um, I'm working on it.

    33:58 Make it through. Right.

34:00 Alicia made it to her fourth quarter.

34:04 Congrats. It was hard work, but worth it.

    34:08 Totally agree. Totally agree.

34:10 I cannot wait to see what you do after fourth quarter.

34:14 That is fantastic. And Megan paying off debt.

34:18 Oh, I would love Megan to come to finance.

34:23 School like Superwoman and staying healthy and grounded through your body and mind.

34:30 Oh my goodness. Megan, you.

34:33 You're doing it. You're killing it. You're killing the game. I want to know how you pay off your debt personally. That's I might email you.

    34:39 So congrats. Congrats.

34:41 And you've embodied all the things we were talking about today. Just getting in the zone. Kim got accepted into nursing school, which is no small feat in any way.

34:51 Olivia got married and got a puppy all in October, which is incredibly impressive.

34:58 I have puppy fever right now.

34:59 I'm jealous. Olivia I'm going to keep my husband, but I wouldn't mind a puppy.

35:06 Esther is focusing on attaining her degree.

35:11 Eye on the prize I love it, I love it.

35:13 Congrats. That's exactly like the mindset you want to have.

35:17 And and I apologize. No, I apologize ahead of time.

35:23 Development of self. Of self and skills.

35:27 You can't. That's something you you you money can't buy.

35:31 So congrats on that because that's hard.

    35:33 That takes discipline.

35:35 And that's a that's a really great feat because it's really hard to to have that development of your skill self and your skills.

35:42 So congrats to you. Congrats.

35:45 Mhm. That'll serve you better than like anything else.

35:48 Oh wait wait I think I skipped one.

35:50 Oh there you go. Achieved 12 classes which seems I can't even fathom that.

35:58 So. Way to go for you Natalie.

36:02 Made it through semesters one and two, which is huge.

36:06 I think the beginning is often the hardest because it's just so overwhelming to dive into it, and you don't know what to expect in the beginning. Someone tells you you don't know until you go through it. So congrats.

36:16 Else. So Sharon, better study habits.

36:20 I love it. And you're here today.

36:21 So that means you're already, you know, just solidifying what you're already trying to do. So congrats to you.

    36:28 That's fantastic. Awesome.

36:30 And Sarah I'm with you Sarah staying alive and Covid free.

36:35 I'm with Sarah. You exactly.

36:37 So and that's hard. And so, you know, just you all making it through school, through this time and being in this profession is, you know, outstanding and amazing.

36:47 And we really appreciate that you're you're putting your lives on the line to do that for us. Absolutely. Um, michaeleen to better understand pharmacology, that is huge. Pharmacology is a beast of a class.

37:02 Um, it is hardcore. And Kamara past her first semester of nursing school which is again so incredibly impressive.

37:10 And Kamara I see you here in the chat.

37:12 So way to go I hope you are so proud of yourself David.

37:15 We can't see you typing, and I owe you an email.

    37:19 I didn't forget about you.

37:20 We met the other week.

    37:22 I didn't forget about you.

37:24 Oh, wait, we went to. We're we're both clicking.

    37:26 We're both clicking. We're click okay.

37:28 There we go okay. Oh my goodness Kathy finish five more prereqs two to go.

37:38 And she has kids and she's homeschooling them.

37:42 Oh my goodness. And now and she's here.

37:44 Kathy's here right Kathy is this the you Kathy.

37:47 Kathy's been chatting. Oh my goodness.

37:49 And I love that she said woo.

37:51 Pat yourself on the back Kathy homeschooling kids alone.

37:57 But you also did your prereqs.

37:59 You have two to go. That is fantastic.

38:01 That is amazing. And Angela making it through her first set of classes or she's an accelerated program. Oh Angela, what a feat.

    38:13 What a feat. What a feat.

38:15 I mean, that is that is truly an accomplishment and I'm so glad you put that on your shout out, because that's something you should definitely be proud of.

38:23 You all should be proud of everything that you've done and accomplished.

38:27 Absolutely. Um, Esme passed her med surg rotation, which is brutal. I feel like that's the one that in my mind was.

38:34 So I was like the looming thing where I was like, oh my gosh, this is like, so hard.

38:39 So that is awesome. Um, to grow to become a US RN after passing the NCLEX. That's awesome way.

    38:48 That's a huge accomplishment.

38:50 That is so exciting. Huge, huge.

38:53 Glad to have you. And I'm a Stem student, uh, graduate with honors. Honors? That doesn't happen every day.

39:04 That doesn't happen every day. So that is fantastic.

39:06 That does not happen every day.

39:08 As a matter of fact, when I had honors classes, I purposely tried to fill them so I could get out of them because it was too much work.

    39:16 That's a true story. I didn't even get into them.

39:20 So you're on a whole new level.

39:22 Well, my mom, my mom was living through me.

39:24 I had to let her know that I got my own life.

39:29 And me getting into nursing school.

39:32 I agree, because it is not an easy thing.

39:35 People think it's very easy until they get there and realize what you have to do.

39:40 So congrats for getting in and we know we're going to see you at the end when you pass and you're going to be a nurse and do whatever it is that your dreams are to do.

39:51 So congrats, Munich. Got into nursing school again.

39:57 You guys, I don't think you understand. I think it's really easy to forget how once you're in school, you're like. Then you're just like, kind of having a hard time with all the data, but you forgot how far you came to even get into school.

40:08 And that's just huge. So keep your acceptance letters and like take a picture of when you got in and remember how excited you were.

40:16 So that in like a year when you're like cursing at your, you know, theory book, you're like, I was once happy for this.

40:23 And David passed module one.

40:25 Exactly. I wanted this, um, past module one of nursing.

    40:29 David. That's awesome.

40:31 That is amazing. And wholesome.

40:38 Reduce stress by following the advice of Prof.

40:41 Laws. Learn more, study less.

40:43 Love it, love it. You keep doing that.

40:46 You keep doing that because you.

40:48 She has so much knowledge is she? She is amazing. And so, you know, of course you have your professors at your, your program and they do a wonderful job of course, as well. But we want to be here to help you too.

41:03 We want to we want to help you through.

41:05 So we're really happy when we see that if we've done, um, a presentation that you really enjoy, we just love it that that reduce your stress.

    41:12 Like. That's fantastic.

41:13 That makes me smile. And Brooke learn new ways to effectively study.

41:19 I work smart, not hard.

41:22 I like it, Brooke, I like it.

41:23 Congrats. That is an accomplishment because I always say there's only 24 hours in a day.

41:28 How are you going to spend it? And I'm hoping eight hours you're sleeping and I don't know what you're doing for the rest, but you know, but learning to study effectively is key.

41:38 And that's one of the things that Lecturio that we really, really try to stress. And that's why we have the resources, the way we have them set up, so that you can study exactly what you need and so you can be efficient.

41:48 So we like that. Congrats.

41:57 Yeah, I created a working study plan for me, which is huge.

42:02 I feel like it took me probably until my last semester of NP school where I was like, oh, okay. I finally figured it out and then I graduated and I was like, are you kidding me? It took me this long. So that is huge.

42:14 And Marianne reduced her weekly clinical paperwork time from 10 hours to 6 hours.

42:20 I hope you get to do something super fun and just relaxing in that extra four hours, because that is huge. That's a lot of time to save.

    42:29 And Zabala conquered us.

42:35 I had this right. My past self by trying.

42:38 Oh, I got it now I got it.

42:41 Conquer her past self by trying and trying again.

42:44 And every time she fell, she went back and she tried again.

42:47 I got it, I got it. And that you know what? That's what it's all about.

42:52 That's what life is about.

42:53 That's what nursing is about.

42:55 And I think it's awesome that you are able to do that and keep growing.

42:59 So I think that is fantastic because we need you.

43:03 And I want to give a quick shout out to Joan because she said something in the chat that really, really warms my heart, she said.

43:09 I love nursing and I want to help people and I oh, I can't tell you how much that how much we appreciate that because, you know, there's a lot of people, again, who think they want to be in nursing and think that's what they want to do and they don't realize the hard work. So special shout out to you, Joan, because I think that really touched my heart.

43:29 That is that is fantastic.

43:30 And I know all of you feel that way.

43:32 I know all of you feel that way.

43:34 So, you know, just by you being here today and taking some time out and I hope you can enjoy everyone's celebrations.

43:40 Um, because you could just see that we're all in this together and we're all going to make it together. And it's just step by step of how we get through it.

43:50 So we hope that this really helped you and inspired you and just let you know you're not alone, that everyone's trying to, you know, trying to make it to that one goal.

43:59 So we really appreciate you all.

44:01 Again, this is not a profession for the for the faint heart.

44:05 This is a really hard profession.

44:08 And for you to take this on is is outstanding.

    44:12 So congrats to everybody.

44:15 Yay! Yay! Oh I was wondering about the streamers.

44:19 Yay! Congrats. Yay! So we hope you enjoyed the shout outs.

44:26 And so all the December grads it is here.

44:31 It is coming. Pending graduation.

44:35 Congrats. You did it! What more can we say? You know, we're all proud of you.

44:42 Even if we haven't met in person, we haven't talked.

44:45 We're just all so proud of you.

44:47 I have talked to so many nursing students over my career, and I mean just truly amazing, truly amazing.

    46:47 Karen. Yes. Yes, Kathy.

46:50 You're welcome. We love putting these together. And we hope we try to make this one a little bit fun because we're at the end of the semester.

46:57 But if you if you have any suggestions of what you would like to see, please let us know. We don't want to do things just so I can be in a gold shirt with my gold fringes left over from my daughter's graduation.

47:09 We want to do what you want, but we thought it'd be fun to do some shout outs and just really just have you take a step back and look at all the accomplishments and look at everything that you've done.

47:20 We thought it'd be fun and cool to do that.

47:22 So thank you for. I think I love that you love the gold fringe.

47:26 Funny story, because we did a graduation parade and I had this on the card.

47:31 Do you know, it's still like some of it's still hanging off the car? I just leave it.

47:37 But I knew it'd be perfect for today.

47:39 So thank you all for being here.

47:41 Remember? Relax. And I know it's hard because I actually have a hard time relaxing, but remember, relax, spend some time with your family.

47:49 Those you love. Um, that's really important.

47:52 Have a reset. Enjoy your winter break.

47:56 But do do it strategically.

48:02 With a little bit of planning.
