    00:02 A clean catch urine sample is usually collected by the patient but may need to be facilitated by a healthcare provider.

    00:09 Intentional cleaning very specific steps, need to be explained to the patient because intentional cleaning of the persons area around the urinary meatus, the external opening of the urethra is required to minimize contamination of the urine sample with external bacteria.

    00:27 The initial portion of the urine stream should not be included in the sample.

    00:31 That's why they start, stop, focus on the cup, and collect the sample.

    00:36 The specimen container should be labeled with patient identifiers, including the date, and time of the collection.
