00:00 So let's start with blood test.

00:03 This is what we're going to go first.

00:05 And I've got four of them listed for you on the screen CBC, liver function tests, bilirubin, amylase and lipase.

00:13 This is usually the time where students doze off, you'll lose them, but I don't want that for you because I know you see a list here, but there is so much we can learn about a patient's liver, their gallbladder and their pancreas function from these four particular labs.

00:30 So let me show you how we use them and then I'll break each one down for you because I want you to become an expert at interpreting lab work for your patience.

00:40 Now look at all we can learn I mean, this is another list I get it.

00:45 But by the time we're done with this presentation, you'll be able to understand why these labs are chosen based on the patient's symptoms.

00:53 Look we've got biliary colic which is acute pain choledocholithiasis, pancreatic gallstone, chronic cholecystitis, and acute cholecystitis.

01:05 Don't even worry about writing these down.

01:08 We've got them in the notes for you.

01:10 But I want you to see that right now you may not understand how this lab work all works together, but you will by the time that we're done.
